About this site

The Latvia's national web site POPIN-Latvia was created by the Centre of Demography, University of Latvia (consultant Mr. Peteris Zvidrins) within the framework of the UN POPIN work programme, guided by the POPIN Advisory/Coordinating Committee. The main aim of this web site is to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date picture of population and family planning issues in Latvia.

to collect, summarize and disseminate data and textual material on Latvia's population, including data on population processes in Latvia, basic information on population policies, and ongoing research and teaching programmes;
to present information on research and teaching activities of various state and non-governmental institutions, universities and other communities.
